I’ve always believed in balance. Many studies inaccurately depict the negative aspects of meat. Citing a biased selection of quality equivalent to that of a McDonald’s
cheeseburger..
Is all meat/red meat equivalent? The answer is NO!!
Is saturated fat very high in a lean grass fed cut of beef? NO!!
Quality grass fed unprocessed beef, Venison, free range no antibiotic chicken, Alaskan sockeye salmon, etc, are just a few examples of quality fish/ meats that can be imperative to muscle building, weight loss, energy, cognitive function, and overall health.
Many antioxidant vitamins/minerals come from animal sources. Absorption of readily available zinc from beef is about four times greater than a high fiber cereal! Including red meat in your diet actually improves absorption of zinc from other sources as well!!
Heme iron in red meat tends to be demonized by non meat eaters. It is actually imperative for cognitive health, including memory, and the ability to learn and reasoning. This is beneficial for children because some toddlers are at higher risk for iron deficiency! Childhood iron deficiency anemia is associated with behavioral and cognitive delays!!
The body always try’s to achieve balance. This is why when you stop working out you will become less muscular. It’s always searching for equilibrium! Our ancestors ate meat and plants! We should do the same!!
